The Word of YHVH
First Thessalonians 2:13 (ASV, American Standard Version)And for this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when ye received from us the word of the message, even the word of God, ye accepted it not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also worketh in you that believe.
James 1:16-18 (ASV, American Standard Version)Be not deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, neither shadow that is cast by turning. Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
John 1:1-5 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Ezra 7:6-12 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)This Ezra went up from Babylon, and he was a scribe skilled in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given; and the king granted him all he requested because the hand of the LORD his God was upon him. Some of the sons of Israel and some of the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers and the temple servants went up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes. He came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king. For on the first of the first month he began to go up from Babylon; and on the first of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, because the good hand of his God was upon him. For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the LORD and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel. Now this is the copy of the decree which King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, learned in the words of the commandments of the LORD and His statutes to Israel: “Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace. And now
John 7:16 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)So Jesus answered them and said, “My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
Leviticus 18:4-5 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)You are to perform My judgments and keep My statutes, to live in accord with them; I am the LORD your God. So you shall keep My statutes and My judgments, by which a man may live if he does them; I am the LORD.

Psalm 119:1-3 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)How blessed are those whose way is blameless, Who walk in the Law of the Lord. How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, Who seek Him with all their heart. They also do no unrighteousness; They walk in His ways.
Psalm 78:10 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)They did not keep the covenant of God And refused to walk in His Law;

Jubilees 6:16 (RHCV, R.H. Charles Version)He set His bow in the cloud for a sign of the eternal covenant that there should not again be a flood on the earth to destroy it all the days of the earth.
The Law existed before Moses
Jubilees 3:9-12 (RHCV, R.H. Charles Version)And after Adam had completed forty days in the land where he had been created, we brought him into the garden of Eden to till and keep it, but his wife they brought in on the eightieth day, and after this she entered into the garden of Eden. And for this reason the commandment is written on the heavenly tablets in regard to her that gives birth: ‘if she bears a male, she shall remain in her uncleanness seven days according to the first week of days, and thirty and three days shall she remain in the blood of her purifying, and she shall not touch any hallowed thing, nor enter into the sanctuary, until she accomplishes these days which (are enjoined) in the case of a male child. But in the case of a female child she shall remain in her uncleanness two weeks of days, according to the first two weeks, and sixty-six days in the blood of her purification, and they will be in all eighty days.’ And when she had completed these eighty days we brought her into the garden of Eden, for it is holier than all the earth besides and every tree that is planted in it is holy.

The commandments were kept by the patriarchs
Testament of Asher 2:2 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)One person steals cons, plunders and defrauds, but pities the poor. He seems both good and evil, but in reality he is only evil. When he defrauds his neighbor, he provokes God and swears falsely against the Most High. Even though he pities and refreshes the poor, he sets aside the law of God, defiling his soul. He may appear to be good, but in reality he kills many and pities few. Another person commits adultery and fornication, but abstains from meats. His fasting only works evil, and he perverts many through his power and wealth. The fornication turns his fasting into sin. Such men are like swine or hares. Only half clean, but in truth they are unclean, God’s heavenly tablets have declared.
Testament of Asher 5:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)All these things I proved in my life, and I wandered not from the truth of the Lord. I searched out the commandments of the Most High, walking single mindedly with all my strength unto that which is good.
Testament of Asher 6:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)My children, remember the commandments of the Lord. Single mindedly follow the truth, for the hypocrites received twofold punishment. Hate the spirits of error that strive against men. Keep the law of the Lord and do not practice evil with good. Practice only good and keep all of the commandments of the Lord. Conduct your lives by him and rest in him. Your actions will show if you are righteous and whom you follow: the angels of God were the angels of Satan. If the soul dies troubled, it is because it was tormented by the evil spirits it served through its lusts and evil works. If the soul dies, quietly and with joy, it is because God’s peace has covered him in life.
Testament of Asher 7:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)Therefore, teach these things to your children, so they will not disobey him and act ungodly against him, not giving heed to the law of God, but the commandments of men.
Testament of Benjamin 10:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)Work truth and righteousness to your neighbors, judge righteously, and keep the law of the Lord and His commandments.
Testament of Dan 6:2 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)He is true and patient, meek and lowly, and teaches by his works the law of God.
Testament of Dan 7:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)Nevertheless, as Dan had prophesied to them that they should not forget the law of their God, and should be alienated from the land of their inheritance. And from the race of Israel. And from their kindred so also it came to pass.
Testament of Gad 3:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)My children listen to the words of truth. Walk in righteousness and all the law of the Most High.
Testament of Gad 4:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)Satan uses hatred along with impulsiveness to kill. But the spirit of love works with the law of God in patience, producing salvation.
Testament of Joseph 11:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)Do you also therefore have the fear of God in your works and honor your family? For everyone who follows the law of the Lord will be loved by Him.
Testament of Joseph 18:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)If you walk in the commandments of the Lord, my children, He will exalt you there and will bless you with good things forever and ever.
Testament of Joseph 19:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)Therefore my children, observe the commandments of the Lord, and honor Judah and Levi.
Testament of Judah 18:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)Guard yourselves from fornication and the love of money. Listen to your father, for these things separate you from the law of God, blind the understanding of the soul, teach arrogance, and take away your compassion.
Testament of Naphtali 3:4 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)Do not try to change the law of God into what you want it to be.
Testament of Naphtali 8:1 (RHCVKJ, R.H. Charles Translation, Edited by Ken Johnson, Th.D.)The commandments of the law are twofold and must be fulfilled through prudence. For instance, there is a season for a man to embrace his wife and a season to abstain from her for prayer. So then there are two commandments, and unless they be done in the proper order, they bring about sin. It is the same with the other commandments. Pursue godly wisdom, prudence, the understanding of the order of the commandments. And the laws of every work that the Lord may love you.

Where did the law come from?
Angels
Acts 7:53 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)you who received the law as ordained by angels, and yet did not keep it.”
Hebrews 2:1-4 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty, how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard, God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will.
The Books of Heaven
Acts 7:38 (RSV, Revised Standard Version)This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the angel who spoke to him at Mount Sinai, and with our fathers; and he received living oracles to give to us.
First Enoch 106:8 (RHCV, R.H. Charles Version)shall die [he and his sons shall be saved]. And now make known to thy son Lamech that he who has been born is in truth his son, and call his name Noah; for he shall be left to you, and he and his sons shall be saved from the destruction, which shall come upon the earth on account of all the sin and all the unrighteousness, which shall be consummated on the earth in his days. And after that there shall be still more unrighteousness than that which was first consummated on the earth; for I know the mysteries of the holy ones; for He, the Lord, has showed me and informed me, and I have read (them) in the heavenly tablets.
First Enoch 108:1-3 (RHCV, R.H. Charles Version)Another book which Enoch wrote for his son Methuselah and for those who will come after him, and keep the law in the last days. Ye who have done good shall wait for those days till an end is made of those who work evil; and an end of the might of the transgressors. And wait ye indeed till sin has passed away, for their names shall be blotted out of the book of life and out of the holy books, and their seed shall be destroyed for ever, and their spirits shall be slain, and they shall cry and make lamentation in a place that is a chaotic wilderness, and in the fire shall they burn; for there is no earth there.
First Enoch 68:1 (RHCV, R.H. Charles Version)And after that my grandfather Enoch gave me the teaching of all the secrets in the book in the Parables which had been given to him, and he put them together for me in the words of the book
First Enoch 81:1-2 (RHCV, R.H. Charles Version)And he said unto me: And I observed the heavenly tablets, and read everything which was written (thereon) and understood everything, and read the book of all the deeds of mankind, and of all the children of flesh that shall be upon the earth to the remotest generations.
First Enoch 81:1-4 (RHCV, R.H. Charles Version)And he said unto me: And I observed the heavenly tablets, and read everything which was written (thereon) and understood everything, and read the book of all the deeds of mankind, and of all the children of flesh that shall be upon the earth to the remotest generations. And forthwith I blessed the great Lord the King of glory for ever, in that He has made all the works of the world, And after that I said:
First Enoch 82:1-2 (RHCV, R.H. Charles Version)And now, my son Methuselah, all these things I am recounting to thee and writing down for thee! and I have revealed to thee everything, and given thee books concerning all these: so preserve, my son Methuselah, the books from thy father’s hand, and (see) that thou deliver them to the generations of the world. I have given Wisdom to thee and to thy children,
First Enoch 89:70-71 (RHCV, R.H. Charles Version)more than was prescribed; and I began to weep and lament on account of those sheep. And thus in the vision I saw that one who wrote, how he wrote down every one that was destroyed by those shepherds, day by day, and carried up and laid down and showed actually the whole book to the Lord of the sheep-(even) everything that they had done, and all that each one of them had made away with, and all that they had given over to destruction. And the book was read before the Lord of the sheep, and He took the book from his hand and read it and sealed it and laid it down.

And Levi discharged the priestly office at Bethel before Jacob his father in preference to his ten brothers, and he was a priest there, and Jacob gave his vow: thus he tithed again the tithe to the Lord and sanctified it, and it became holy unto Him. And for this reason it is ordained on the heavenly tablets as a law for the tithing again the tithe to eat before the Lord from year to year, in the place where it is chosen that His name should dwell, and to this law there is no limit of days for ever.

And the judgment of all is ordained and written on the heavenly tablets in righteousness -even (the judgment of) all who depart from the path which is ordained for them to walk in; and if they walk not therein, judgment is written down for every creature and for every kind. Deuteronomy 10:12-13 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“Now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require from you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the LORD’S commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good?
Deuteronomy 11:1 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“You shall therefore love the LORD your God, and always keep His charge, His statutes, His ordinances, and His commandments.
Deuteronomy 11:13-14 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“It shall come about, if you listen obediently to my commandments which I am commanding you today, to love the Lord your God and to serve Him with all your heart and all your soul, that He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early and late rain, that you may gather in your grain and your new wine and your oil.
Deuteronomy 11:22-23 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“For if you are careful to keep all this commandment which I am commanding you to do, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and hold fast to Him, then the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you.
Deuteronomy 19:8-9 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“If the LORD your God enlarges your territory, just as He has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land which He promised to give your fathers– if you carefully observe all this commandment which I command you today, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in His ways always–then you shall add three more cities for yourself, besides these three.
Deuteronomy 30:16 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.
Deuteronomy 5:8-10 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Deuteronomy 7:9-11 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments; but repays those who hate Him to their faces, to destroy them; He will not delay with him who hates Him, He will repay him to his face. “Therefore, you shall keep the commandment and the statutes and the judgments which I am commanding you today, to do them.
Exodus 20:3-6 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. “You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
First John 5:2-3 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.
John 14:15 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
John 14:21 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.”
Joshua 22:5 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God and walk in all His ways and keep His commandments and hold fast to Him and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
Nehemiah 1:5-6 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)I said, “I beseech You, O LORD God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who preserves the covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments, let Your ear now be attentive and Your eyes open to hear the prayer of Your servant which I am praying before You now, day and night, on behalf of the sons of Israel Your servants, confessing the sins of the sons of Israel which we have sinned against You; I and my father’s house have sinned.
Psalm 112:1-3 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Praise the LORD! How blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who greatly delights in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, And his righteousness endures forever.
Second John 1:6 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.
Jubilees 1:23 (RHCV, R.H. Charles Version)And their souls will cleave to Me and to all My commandments, and they will fulfil My commandments, and I will be their Father and they shall be My children.
The traditions of men
Colossians 2:20-22 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)–in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men?
Colossians 2:8 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.
Mark 7:6-8 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.’ “Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.”
Matthew 15:1-6 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Then some Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” And He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? “For God said, ‘HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER,’ and, ‘HE WHO SPEAKS EVIL OF FATHER OR MOTHER IS TO BE PUT TO DEATH.’ “But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever I have that would help you has been given to God,” he is not to honor his father or his mother.’ And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition.
Titus 1:10-14 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain. One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” This testimony is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith, not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.
Commandment keeping in the future
Ezekiel 44:9 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Thus says the Lord GOD, “No foreigner uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, of all the foreigners who are among the sons of Israel, shall enter My sanctuary.
Isaiah 2:2-3 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Now it will come about that In the last days The mountain of the house of the LORD Will be established as the chief of the mountains, And will be raised above the hills; And all the nations will stream to it. And many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; That He may teach us concerning His ways And that we may walk in His paths.” For the law will go forth from Zion And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 31:31-33 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“Behold, days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD. “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the LORD, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Micah 4:1-3 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)And it will come about in the last days That the mountain of the house of the LORD Will be established as the chief of the mountains. It will be raised above the hills, And the peoples will stream to it. Many nations will come and say, “Come and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD And to the house of the God of Jacob, That He may teach us about His ways And that we may walk in His paths.” For from Zion will go forth the law, Even the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And He will judge between many peoples And render decisions for mighty, distant nations. Then they will hammer their swords into plowshares And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation will not lift up sword against nation, And never again will they train for war.
Second Esdras [4th Ezra] 2:10-11 (1611 KJV, King James Version)Thus saith the Lord unto Esdras, Tell my people that I will give them the kingdom of Jerusalem, which I would have given unto Israel. Their glory also will I take unto me, and give these the everlasting tabernacles, which I had prepared for them.
Common verses used to say the law has been done away with
Galatians 3:1-29 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? Did you suffer so many things in vain–if indeed it was in vain? So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Even so Abraham BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “ALL THE NATIONS WILL BE BLESSED IN YOU.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer. For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT ABIDE BY ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM.” Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, “THE RIGHTEOUS MAN SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.” However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, “HE WHO PRACTICES THEM SHALL LIVE BY THEM.” Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us–for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE”– in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Brethren, I speak in terms of human relations: even though it is only a man’s covenant, yet when it has been ratified, no one sets it aside or adds conditions to it. Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as referring to many, but rather to one, “And to your seed,” that is, Christ. What I am saying is this: the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise. For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise. Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. Now a mediator is not for one party only; whereas God is only one. Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? May it never be! For if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been based on law. But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.
Galatians 3:19 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the Seed would come to whom the promise had been made.
Galatians 4:4 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,
Galatians 5:3 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law.
Romans 14:14 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
Paul and the Law
Paul kept the law
Acts 21:24 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)take them and purify yourself along with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads; and all will know that there is nothing to the things which they have been told about you, but that you yourself also walk orderly, keeping the Law.
Acts 24:14 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“But this I admit to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect I do serve the God of our fathers, believing everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets;
Romans 3:31 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Do we then nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law.
Romans 7:12 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.
Paul kept the Sabbath
Acts 17:2 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)And according to Paul’s custom, he went to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
Acts 18:4 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)And he was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.
Paul kept the Feast Days
Acts 20:16 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus so that he would not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be in Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost.
Acts 20:6 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)We sailed from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and came to them at Troas within five days; and there we stayed seven days.
First Corinthians 16:6-9 (ASV, American Standard Version)but with you it may be that I shall abide, or even winter, that ye may set me forward on my journey whithersoever I go. For I do not wish to see you now by the way; for I hope to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit. But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost; for a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.
First Corinthians 5:7-8 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed. Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Paul taught from the law
Acts 28:23 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)When they had set a day for Paul, they came to him at his lodging in large numbers; and he was explaining to them by solemnly testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus, from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning until evening.
Paul Told us to follow his example
Philippians 3:17 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us.
Paul is difficult to understand
Second Peter 3:15-17 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,
Accounts of the people keeping the law, being accepted by YHVH
Nehemiah 8:13-18 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Then on the second day the heads of fathers’ households of all the people, the priests and the Levites were gathered to Ezra the scribe that they might gain insight into the words of the law. They found written in the law how the LORD had commanded through Moses that the sons of Israel should live in booths during the feast of the seventh month. So they proclaimed and circulated a proclamation in all their cities and in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the hills, and bring olive branches and wild olive branches, myrtle branches, palm branches and branches of other leafy trees, to make booths, as it is written.” So the people went out and brought them and made booths for themselves, each on his roof, and in their courts and in the courts of the house of God, and in the square at the Water Gate and in the square at the Gate of Ephraim. The entire assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and lived in them. The sons of Israel had indeed not done so from the days of Joshua the son of Nun to that day. And there was great rejoicing. He read from the Book of the Law of God daily, from the first day to the last day. And they celebrated the feast seven days, and on the eighth day there was a solemn assembly according to the ordinance.
Second Chronicles 30:18-21 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)For a multitude of the people, even many from Ephraim and Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun, had not purified themselves, yet they ate the Passover otherwise than prescribed. For Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, “May the good LORD pardon everyone who prepares his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though not according to the purification rules of the sanctuary.” So the LORD heard Hezekiah and healed the people. The sons of Israel present in Jerusalem celebrated the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days with great joy, and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day after day with loud instruments to the LORD.
Lawlessness = Sin
First John 3:4 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
Romans 5:12-13 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned– for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Romans 7:7-11 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “YOU SHALL NOT COVET.” But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead. I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin became alive and I died; and this commandment, which was to result in life, proved to result in death for me; for sin, taking an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me.
The commandments are good for you
The commandments bring you closer to YHVH
Isaiah 58:1-2 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“Cry loudly, do not hold back; Raise your voice like a trumpet, And declare to My people their transgression And to the house of Jacob their sins. “Yet they seek Me day by day and delight to know My ways, As a nation that has done righteousness And has not forsaken the ordinance of their God. They ask Me for just decisions, They delight in the nearness of God.
Matthew 19:16-17 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
Romans 7:12 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.
The commandments are to be lived by
Ezekiel 18:9 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)if he walks in My statutes and My ordinances so as to deal faithfully–he is righteous and will surely live,” declares the Lord GOD.
Leviticus 18:5 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)So you shall keep My statutes and My judgments, by which a man may live if he does them; I am the LORD.
Romans 7:12 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.
The commandments were prophesied to be transgressed
Hosea 8:1 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)Put the trumpet to your lips! Like an eagle the enemy comes against the house of the LORD, Because they have transgressed My covenant And rebelled against My law.
Jeremiah 6:17-19 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)“And I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’ “Therefore hear, O nations, And know, O congregation, what is among them. “Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing disaster on this people, The fruit of their plans, Because they have not listened to My words, And as for My Law, they have rejected it also.
